A ROMAN GOLD RING WITH NICOLO INTAGLIO. A VEILED MATRONA PORTRAIT, 3RD CENTURY A.D.
0,5 x 0,4 in. Intaglio dim / 1,1 in. Bezel length / 0,8 in. Internal diam / 35,5 grs. Hexagonal ring of oval form, deeply grooved on
the outside. Round the oval bezel is a series of volutes. Engraved nicolo with the portrait of a veiled Matrona, turned to left.
Anneau de forme hexagonale, arrondi à l’extérieur et applati à l’intérieur. Le chaton à larges dimensions, de forme ovale est décoré d’un rebord réhaussé et sur la partie extérieure en continuité avec les épaules de l’anneau, décor gravé de volutes. Sertissage d’une agate nicolo gravée figurant un portrait de matrone romaine coiffée d’un voile. Le visage est tourné vers la gauche.
